Acceptable Use Policy
1. What this covers
This policy applies to everyone who uses a product operated by Vagary Labs LLP. It sits alongside the Terms of Service; where the Terms grant you a right, this policy describes the limits on exercising it.
The rules below are not exhaustive. They describe the kinds of conduct we act on, and we apply judgement to conduct that is plainly within their spirit but not literally listed.
2. Do not use our services to
- Break the law, or help someone else break it.
- Infringe copyright, trademarks, patents, trade secrets or any other intellectual property right.
- Harass, threaten, stalk, defame or impersonate any person or organisation.
- Produce or distribute child sexual abuse material, or any non-consensual intimate imagery. We report this to the authorities without notice to the account holder.
- Distribute malware, ransomware, or code designed to damage or gain unauthorised access to a system.
- Send unsolicited bulk messages, or run phishing, credential-harvesting or other fraud.
- Circumvent authentication, rate limits, quotas or access controls — ours or anyone else's.
- Scrape, crawl or bulk-extract from our services except as our published interfaces permit.
- Resell or sublicense access without a written agreement with us.
- Interfere with service availability, including through denial-of-service or resource exhaustion.
3. AI-specific rules
Several of our products use or provide AI. These rules apply specifically to that use, and they exist because the harms are specific too.
- Do not clone a voice without the consent of the person it belongs to. A voice is a person's identity, and cloning one to impersonate them causes real harm to a real individual.
- Do not present AI-generated output as human-generated where doing so would deceive someone into a decision they would not otherwise make.
- Do not remove, disable or obscure any AI-disclosure notice or content marking we apply to generated output. Those markings exist to satisfy transparency obligations, and stripping them defeats the purpose.
- Do not use our AI services to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on a person — employment, credit, housing, insurance, education or benefits — without meaningful human review.
- Do not use our services to infer sensitive characteristics about people from their voice, face or behaviour — health, disability, race, religion, political opinion, sexual orientation or union membership.
- Do not use our services for emotion recognition in a workplace or educational setting.
- Do not upload personal data you have no lawful basis to process, and do not upload someone else's confidential information without their permission.
- Do not rely on AI output as professional advice — see the Disclaimer.
4. Recording and consent
Where a product records or transcribes a conversation, you are responsible for having the consent that the law of the relevant place requires. Many jurisdictions require the consent of every participant, not just yours, and participants may be in different places from you. If you are unsure, obtain everyone's consent — it is the only approach that is correct everywhere.
5. What we do about violations
Depending on severity and intent, we may warn you, remove content, restrict a feature, suspend the account, or terminate it. Where the law requires it, we report to the relevant authority.
We aim to warn before terminating, so that an honest mistake can be corrected. We do not warn first where the conduct is causing ongoing harm to someone, is plainly criminal, or is an active security threat — in those cases we act immediately.
Termination for a breach of this policy does not entitle you to a refund. See Refund and Cancellation.
6. Reporting a violation
To report misuse, email [email protected] with the subject AUP Report, the URL or account concerned, and what you observed. Security vulnerabilities go to the disclosure route on the Security page. Formal complaints can be escalated to the Grievance Officer.
7. Appeals
If you believe an enforcement decision against your account was wrong, reply to the notice you received, or write to the Grievance Officer. An appeal is reviewed by someone other than the person who made the original decision.
